Emotional Healing with Intuitive Art & Water

When Water Rises

It starts as a mild discomfort, then it becomes a noticeable anxiety, then a fear. Finally it turns into literal physical pain, and then it breaks like a wave and pours over me, a current of grief so strong, there is nothing to do but give in to it and hope I float. Eventually I always rise to the surface but it takes me into its undercurrent first to make sure I know, can feel deeply. And then there is an almost euphoric calm as I am released to the surface and I really do feel as though I can float. My heart is left raw for a while afterward, as I’m humbly grateful to be ok. These bouts of pain, and my willingness to stop numbing them and go in, allow me to touch the beauty and miracle of being here in this strange place at all.

Water ~ we use your name to describe the heaviness, the depth, the waves of emotion, feeling lost. But we also know you cleanse. We know the feeling of warm tears. We know your healing. ∞

a meditation on color - calling in blue

  1. Gather all of the blue art materials you can find, this can include markers, pencils, paints, paper, magazine cutouts etc.

  2. Fill a glass with water and bring it with you to your creative space.

  3. Get really still if you can and call in blue. Where does blue live in your body? Where does blue live in your energy field? Where can blue be found in your lived experience?

  4. Drink water, ask it to help you heal as you take a slow sip. Thank it for all it gives.

  5. Create art. Don’t worry about the outcome. Focus on the experience, what wants to come out? What does it feel like to work with blue? What do you notice coming to the surface?

  6. To integrate the art process, free write for however long feels good to the prompt: This is blue, and the healing message I have for you is…
